History
The Thompson family history in downtown Canandaigua dates back to 1876. That is when Geo. T. Thompson first purchased the Lumber Yard property at the corner of Bemis & Coy Streets. The Thompson family (A.G. Thompson, John S. Bacon, Edith Thompson Bacon and Warren Thompson Bacon) successfully operated a Lumber Yard and Hardware business here for 107 consecutive years.
Today, Alexander Thompson Bacon (Geo.'s great-great grandson) is the 7th generation Thompson to own the Lumber Yard property! He purchased it in the summer of 2003 and began refurbishing the only remaining original structure - the Main Office and Hardware store - to serve his restaurant customers in the Thompson family tradition of "excellent value and outstanding personal service."
Alex brings 19 years of successful restaurant experience to the Lumberyard Grille with a resume that includes: Head Chef duties, General Manager responsibilities and Banquet and Special Events Planner.
